Dr. Ariadne Letra is a Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. Her research combines human genetics with in vitro and in vivo model systems to better understand the molecular mechanisms underlying complex oral diseases and disorders. Her work has significantly contributed to new insights into host mechanisms in pulpal and periapical diseases, as well as the connections between oral and systemic health. She has received continuous funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Foundation for Endodontics.
Her research is highlighted in over 120 peer-reviewed publications (h-index=44), 7 book chapters, numerous abstracts, and media recognitions, amassing over 5,000 citations. Dr. Letra has been honored with several prestigious awards, including the IADR Hatton Award and the Clinical Research Award from the Journal of Endodontics (2019, 2023). She is currently an Associate Editor of the Journal of Endodontics, Chair of the AAE Research and Scientific Affairs Committee, and a member of the editorial board of several scientific journals.
